This is the story of a young man that is in a constant
battle with his emotions and the ability to express himself, without looking or
feeling weak. He was raised with one foot in the church and the other in the streets,
which is a huge part of his struggle to do the right thing. Through the years,
he learned to tuck away his feelings and emotions, so that he can survive the
streets. There was no room for sadness, weakness, or tears. He was taught to
always stand 10 toes down and with his Chin and Chest up. But what happens when
the weight of the world finally breaks him, and he decides to embrace a darker
side of himself. One in which has been trying to avoid for many years. He’s had
every reason to embrace that darker side, but it could potentially destroy him
and everyone around him.

Chin Up Chest Up
Shaun Spencer
Hello and thank you for visiting. Chin Up Chest Up is a life story of mine that is very common with other young men around the world, especially young men of color. I decided to tell my story because I felt it was time to show the world the everyday emotional struggle that young men go through. Our journeys are much more than just sports, music, and friends. There's another side, another battle that we go through that most people will never know or understand. My story is just one of many. Enjoy and maybe we can help save another young man from exploding emotionally.

A Message To Fathers
Fellas, you are the first line of defense when it comes to make sure your sons are equipped with what they need to survive in this world. Young boys / young men need to understand how to balance out being strong and also having the ability to understand and control their emotions. Young boys need to know that they their fathers understand them and that its ok to have or feel emotions. Fathers and Stepfathers need to provide a safe environment for young boys, so that they are not scared to discuss their emotions.
A Message To Mothers
As mothers, you have the ability to help us balance out the
strong side and the emotional side of us. There needs to be a healthy balance so that we can avoid mental instability. Allow him to be a strong young man, but at the same time, give him a healthy environment in which he can express how he feels without feeling weak.

The emotional struggle of young boys and young men is a real thing and something that is not talked about enough. Things start at an early age and begin to pile up on each other, if we are not taught how to control and balance our emotions. Eventually, if not under control, young men will bring under pressure and things can go from good to bad overnight.
